FOUNDERS DAY 2023

Founders Day

Saturday is USAFA Founders Day. On April 1, 1954, President Eisenhower signed legislation establishing the Academy. We mark this special anniversary with a video message from several 1990s and 2000s graduates who are game-changers in a variety of ways! Their time at the Academy helped set them up for future success.

Cadet Chapel update

The Cadet Chapel reached a milestone March 30 when the 1,008th and final piece of its aluminum exterior was removed. The iconic Cadet Chapel is slated to reopen in early 2027.

  • C1C Madison Marsh will graduate from the Academy in June. After that, she plans to attend the Harvard Kennedy School of Government. Before that, she competes in the Miss Colorado pageant. Flight training follows Harvard. Busy enough?

2022 Distinguished Graduates
  • Nancy Skeans '84 is the CEO of a $2 billion Pittsburgh wealth management firm, and her success all started at the Air Force Academy.
  • U.S. Rep. August Pfluger '00 has been appointed to the USAFA Board of Visitors. The board provides independent advice and recommendations on matters relating to the U.S. Air Force Academy.
  • 11 USAFA graduates have been nominated for their second star. Check out who's on the list.
  • 1st Lt. Camaren Ly 2020 shares her thoughts about "college regrets" in a New York Times story.

  • Save the date and plan to join us for the ultimate Long Blue Line Weekend celebration! It's happening July 28-29 and features the popular Jacks Valley Grad March Back event.
  • Young alumni from the classes of 2018-2022 are invited to the first-ever Young Alumni Conference April 27-29 at USAFA. Attendees will have opportunities to mentor the Class of 2023, attend a welcome social with drinks and food included, explore USAFA and attend the Young Alumni Conference briefings followed by a complimentary networking social with active duty and civilian counterparts.

  • Men's Gymnastics Head Coach Josh Loeser '07 has been named Mountain Pacific Sports Federation coach of the year.
  • Air Force slugged its way to a 18-13 win over Kansas State on March 29, as the Falcons set a myriad of new season-highs en route to their first home victory of the spring.
  • For the second time in as many weeks, first-year Air Force hurdler Jacqui Spencer was named the Mountain West Women's Freshman of the Week.
  • Air Force coaching legend Ralph Lindeman and former javelin standout Dana (Pounds) Lyon '06 will be inducted into the prestigious Drake Relays Hall of Fame.
