• Capt. Mitch Torrel '14 says his "strengths are stress tolerance and critical thinking." In 2018, he learned those strengths would be put to the test in a dramatic way — the rescue of a boys soccer team trapped in an underwater cave halfway around the world. ►

• Capt. Angela Johnson '15 recently earned Flight Commander of the Year for the 26th Cyberspace Operations Group. ►

• 1st Lt. Benn Hawkins '18 is a young wingman in the middle of Red Flag, the Air Force's premier air-to-air combat exercise. ►

• Col. Brandon Evans '98, 164th Airlift Wing Vice Commander, devotes time to a STEM program and hopes to inspire others to lift to new heights with no limits. ►

• Nolan Peterson '04 is a conflict journalist who has been writing about Ukraine and its ongoing conflict with Russia for several years. Here's his latest report. ►

LaGuardia Airport deputy federal security director Matt McKeon '83 writes about his experiences as the federal coordinator for Operation Allies Welcome at the same base where he learned of 9/11 20 years earlier. ►

• 2nd Lt. Kassady Huffman '21 is one of 12 women selected to play with the U.S. Armed Forces women's basketball team. ►
Membership for All Grads
Many cadets come to the Academy with the goal of becoming a pilot in the United States Air Force. Did you know you can fly and attend Test Pilot School without being a pilot? Two members of the Class of 2019 were the first in a new streamlined program to get flight test engineers to the Air Force Test Pilot School.

Air Force Academy cadets used to learn military strategy in classrooms. Now they're using war-gaming flight simulators. ►

If you're assigned to Cadet Squadron 12 at the Air Force Academy and need advice, talk to Master Sgt. Brian Kelsey. If you want to chat about skiing, rock climbing, his four children or woodworking, he's good with that, too. ►
