NCLS 2021: Warrior Ethos
The donor-supported 2021 National Character and Leadership Symposium will focus on the theme "Warrior Ethos as Airmen and Citizens." The online event, with a mixture of livestreams and recorded sessions, will feature several speakers, including U.S. Air Force leaders, the executive chairman of Lockheed Martin, world-class athletes, authors and more. Governor Appoints Suelzer as Deputy Adjutant General for Air
Texas Governor Greg Abbott appointed Brig. Gen. Thomas M. Suelzer '90 to serve as the deputy adjutant general for air, coordinating activities of the Texas Military Forces with the National Guard Bureau to ensure funding and compliance occurs with other federal, state and local jurisdictions in matters relating to the mission of the Texas Air National Guard.

Cadet Moody Garners Spaatz Award
C3C Christian Moody was presented with the Carl A. Spaatz Award for his service in Civil Air Patrol (CAP), the civilian auxiliary of the United States Air Force. The Spaatz Award is the highest honor available to CAP cadets, conferring the rank of Cadet Colonel on the recipient.

Gerlica Named the Air Force Cadet of the Year
Recent Air Force Academy graduate and four-year baseball letterwinner 2nd Lt. Jeff Gerlica '20 was named the 2020 Air Force Cadet of the Year, the Department of the Air Force announced. The award recognizes the best cadet in an Air Force commissioning program, and Gerlica was selected in a large and highly competitive pool of Air Force Academy, Reserve Officer Training Corps, and Officer Training School cadets.
