Gen. Charles Q. Brown Nominated to be Next Air Force Chief of Staff
If confirmed by the Senate, Gen. Charles Q. (CQ) Brown would assume one of the two highest positions in the Air Force from Gen. David L. Goldfein '83, who is retiring June 30 after four years as Chief of Staff. Brown would be the first African-American to serve as a service chief.

On March 16, the Santa Fe Trail trailhead and the North Gate parking lot, just before the Air Force Academy North Gate entrance, will permanently close to allow construction of the new Academy Visitors Center.

NCLS 2020 Videos Available Online
A collection of eight videos from the 2020 National Character and Leadership Symposium is available for viewing online, including the Class of '59 Leadership Lecture by Maj. Gen. Michael Fantini. More information about the symposium is also available on the official NCLS website.


2020 Polaris Legacy Challenge
For every new planned gift commitment made in 2020, the Air Force Academy Foundation will make a $1,000 donation to the Air Force Academy Fund in the donor's name. Donors would also qualify for one year of Sabre Society level recognition.


Honoring the Legacy of the "Jolly Green" Combat Rescue Helicopter
Last week, the Air Force named its newest combat rescue helicopter, the HH-60W, the "Jolly Green II," following the legendary tradition of the Vietnam-era HH-3E Jolly Green and HH-53 Super Jolly Green crews who pioneered the combat search-and-rescue mission. U.S. Air Force 2d Lt. Megan Barrick '18 is one of the approximately 2,000 military personnel who honed their skills to increase combat readiness and interoperability during the annual trilateral field training exercise of COPE NORTH 2020.


Airman Inducted into the Nebraska Aviation Hall of Fame
After a lifelong career of flying and teaching, retired Air Force Lt. Col. Roy Kessell '70 was inducted into the Nebraska Aviation Hall of Fame on Jan. 23. He's the third member inducted from the 55th Wing.

The dedication and naming of the expansion was in recognition of 23 years of dedicated service by the organization's second of only three leaders. The new asset is officially known now as the E. Parke Hinman, III Building.

Air Force Wraps Up 62nd-Annual Wing Open Boxing Championships
Senior Sean Chieves and sophomore Madison Lloyd earned Most Outstanding Male and Female Boxer Awards, respectively, to highlight the 62nd Annual Wing Open Boxing Championships Saturday afternoon in Clune Arena. Chieves won his third title and Lloyd her second at 132 pounds. Senior Levi Rate, the most decorated boxer in the lineup, became the 16th Falcon in program history to earn his fourth title, in as many different weight divisions.


Maria Mettler, Michael Rhoads Qualify for NCAA Championships
It is the fifth-straight year Air Force has qualified members of both the men's and women's teams. Junior Maria Mettler qualified in the 5000-meter run, while senior Michael Rhoads will be making his third-straight indoor appearance at the national meet in the 800-meter run.
