Former AOG Leader Passes Away
The USAFA Association of Graduates has learned of the passing of Lt. Col. (Ret.) Richard "Dick" Coppock '61, who served as the AOG president and chief executive officer from 1983-1999. During his tenure at the AOG, he led efforts to raise the necessary funding to build USAFA's first alumni house — Doolittle Hall — in 1991-92.

Jabara Awards for 2019 to be Presented Friday
The 2019 winners of the Colonel James Jabara Award for Airmanship are Col. Tyler "Nick" Hague '98 and Maj. Caitlin T. Reilly '07. The awards will be presented during noon meal with the cadets in Mitchell Hall and at the evening's award dinner at Doolittle Hall. Leading up to their award presentation tomorrow, Col. Hague and Maj. Reilly hung out with some local grade school students and Academy cadets today.

New Name. Same Mission.
The USAFA Endowment has changed its name to the Air Force Academy Foundation, effective January 1, 2020. "This is an exciting change for us and marks a strategic pivot for our future," said retired Lt. Gen. Mike Gould '76, president and CEO of the Air Force Academy Foundation.

Moot Court Team Update
The Academy's Moot Court Team made a strong showing at the National Moot Court Tournament at the Southern University Law Center in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. "Very few programs produce even one national-caliber team but we had three this year, which is a testament to our cadets," said Maj. Wolfgang Weber, an assistant law professor at the Academy. The team is supported in part by donors to the Air Force Academy Foundation.

For 25 years, Sabre Society donors have demonstrated a unique commitment to the mission of the Air Force Academy by providing unwavering support for Academy projects and programs with annual gifts of $1,000 or more to the Air Force Academy Fund.

Celebrating Milestones
The Air Force Academy Foundation celebrated 2019 milestones Jan. 29 with Air Force Academy leaders and board directors. Lt. Gen. Jay Silveria '85 offered gratitude to the Foundation for its continuing efforts to improve the Academy. "I can't thank the organization enough because you can't take one step around this institution without feeling and experiencing the help that we get from the Foundation," he said. Photos of the event are posted on the Foundation's Flickr account.

Cadet candidates with the Air Force Preparatory School inducted Capt. Victoria A. "Tori" Pinckney '08 as their 2020 Exemplar. This year's class of cadet candidates selected Pinckney because she was a leader of the people and always valued service before self.

Air Force Grad Performs the World's Best Pole Vault So Far in This Olympic Year
Pole vaulter 1st Lt. Kyle Pater '17 has the biggest jump in the world this year, but only because he kept his thought small. The 2017 Air Force grad now training with the World Class Athlete Program cleared 19-foot-1 at the Air Force Invitational. He was aiming for the Academy's facility record, which he obtained, and in the process set the bar worldwide in this Olympic year.
