Last Day for All Academy Challenge
Today is the final day of the five-day All Academy Challenge. Give today to be counted toward the challenge to see which service academy can attract the highest percentage of graduate donors in support of their alma mater. Health, Safety are Top Priorities as Cadets Begin Academic Year

USAFA Pandemic Math Team
How might the entire Cadet Wing safely return to USAFA for in-person instruction during the ongoing pandemic? Maj. Erin Almand '09, assistant professor in the Department of Biology, had an answer. USAFA could do its own testing. While the future of the pandemic is unknown, USAFA, its graduates and the Pandemic Math Team continue to show the nation why an Academy education is far, far above any other.

The Air Force Academy Foundation and Association of Graduates are soliciting photos of Air Force Academy life for the 2021 Air Force Academy Fund calendar. The calendar is sent annually to Air Force Academy Fund donors from the previous year. Full details are on the photo submission page.


New JCLD Edition Available
The Summer 2020 edition of the Journal of Character and Leadership Development is now available online. The publication covers topics such as preparing for future conflict, developing leaders committed to service to the nation, and fostering a culture of innovation.

Air Force Lt. Gen. David "DT" Thompson '85 was tapped as the Space Force's vice chief of space operations and for promotion to the rank of general.


Allvin Nominated to Become Vice Chief of Staff, Receive Fourth Star
Lt. Gen. David Allvin '86 is currently director of strategy, plans and policy for the Joint Staff at the Pentagon, and a senior member of the United States delegation to the United Nations Military Staff Committee.


Craige Assumes Command of Air Force Personnel Center
Maj. Gen. Christopher Craige '91 now oversees the command that manages personnel programs and policies affecting airmen and civilian Air Force employees, as well as retirees and surviving spouses.


Rowe Takes Command of 12th Flying Training Wing
Col. Scott Rowe '98's most recent assignment is commander of the 12th Flying Training Wing at Joint Base San Antonio-Randolph, Texas. The 12th Flying Training Wing has several missions, and its duties include training all pilot training instructors who will go on to teach student pilots in three different platforms at the various pilot training bases.


Honoring a Fallen Teammate
Members of the USAFA Flying Team gathered last weekend to remember 1st Lt. Kenneth "KAGE" Allen '17. A memorial shadow box, paid for by members of the Class of 2017, will be displayed at the 557th Flying Training Squadron. The AOG works closely with the Academy, cadets, graduates and family members of deceased grads to ensure that the fallen receive appropriate recognition. Among the AOG's contributions are organizing the annual Next-of-Kin reception, providing display cases to cadet squadrons and managing the Gone But Not Forgotten tributes in Checkpoints.

Two Air Force Academy graduates stationed at Osan Air Base, South Korea, were not about to let a motorcycle accident get in the way of their friendship.


AFIT Dedicates Classroom Honoring Dean's Commitment To CE Officer Professional Development
The Civil Engineer School at the Air Force Institute of Technology dedicated a classroom in honor of the school's dean at a ceremony July 24th. The Col. Donald R. Ohlemacher Civil Engineer Officer Professional Development Laboratory is located on AFIT's campus in building 643.


Graduate Spirit Mission
USAFA red classes conducted a COVID-19 themed spirit mission this week. Led by the Class of 1998, RTBs from the classes of 1978, 1982, 1986, 1990 and 2010 (among others) raised a monumental $12,198 to buy reversible face masks for the red Class of 2022.

Vandenberg Welcomes Its First U.S. Space Force Member
Vandenberg welcomed its first United Space Force service member on June 22 as 2nd Lt. Olivia Gillingham '20, an acquisitions manager, was assigned to the 2nd Space Launch Squadron as a project officer.

Air Force Research Laboratory Supports Cadet Research
With support from the Air Force Research Laboratory, the Air Force Academy expanded its summer research program for undergraduate cadets and is providing virtual research opportunities to the largest group ever in the school's history.


Academy Cadets Unveil Class of 2023 Exemplar
The exemplar for the sophomore cadets at the Air Force Academy is a pilot, prisoner of war and Medal of Honor recipient. Each year, cadets vote on their class's exemplar, or role model.

C4C Katlyn Keating was one of the valedictorians at Standley Lake High School in Westminster, Colorado. As part of the class of 2020, she and her classmates missed out on many important milestones. However, she was allowed to attend a delayed graduation ceremony virtually.
