Nearly a decade in the making, the Air Force Academy has renamed its airfield in honor of Gen. Benjamin O. Davis, Jr., the groundbreaking Tuskegee Airman and World War II pilot.

Drone Light Show
Tonight from 8:00-8:30 p.m. there will be a FREE drone light show presentation above the U.S. Air Force Academy campus. As a leader in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM), the Academy is excited to demonstrate the ability of 500 swarming drones to tell a visually immersive story.


Cadet Chapel Key Handoff
Last week, keys to the Cadet Chapel were turned over to the contractor as the Chapel is set to undergo a major restoration project that will leave the iconic structure closed for up to four years.

Outdoor Hockey in Falcon Stadium
The NHL® is bringing outdoor hockey to Colorado. Young Alumni Excellence Award Nominations Now Open
Each spring, the Association of Graduates has the pleasure of honoring graduates who attended the United States Air Force Academy within the last 15 years with our Young Alumni Excellence Award. The award is presented on the basis of the recipient's outstanding professional achievements and contributions to their community, whether in military or civilian life. Nomination deadline: Jan. 10, 2020.

Crowdfunding for Cadet Ice Hockey Club
The USAFA Cadet Ice Hockey Club will benefit from a crowdfunding initiative that will raise money for uniforms, travel and a cargo trailer for team road trips. More than 40 cadets play for the club team, building warrior ethos and developing leadership skills. They compete in the American Collegiate Hockey Association.


Structuring Year-end, Non-cash Donations
As the calendar year comes to a close, there are several ways you can make charitable donations in support of the Air Force Academy. The USAFA Endowment has published a downloadable one-page PDF titled "Structuring 2019 Year-End Non-Cash Donation Options to Maximize Your Tax Advantages" to offer more information about the options.

2020 Air Force Academy Fund Calendar
The 2020 Air Force Academy Fund calendar will be mailed to Air Force Academy Fund donors beginning in December. The calendar features photos from cadets, staff, parents and graduates, showcasing new perspectives of the Academy. It's not too late to get your copy; all it takes is a donation to the Air Force Academy Fund in 2019.

Academy Hails New Dean with Assumption of Command Ceremony
The Air Force Academy heralded in its new dean in an official assumption of command ceremony Oct. 17. Brig. Gen. Linell Letendre '96, previously a permanent professor and head of the school's law department, replaces Brig. Gen. Andrew Armacost, who stepped down in September to retire.


Grads Compete at Military World Games in China
A number of Academy graduates competed in the recently completed 7th CISM Military World Games in Wuhan, China. The Games ran from Oct. 18 through 27.

White House Appoints 2019-2020 Class of White House Fellows
Maj. Brandon Dues '07 has been appointed to White House Fellows Program, which was designed "to give the Fellows first-hand, high-level experience with the workings of the federal government and to increase their sense of participation in national affairs."


AFRL Honors Late Director in Building Dedication
The new name of the building is the Terry S. Duncan Space Technology and Research Laboratory. Duncan '92 served as director of the National Reconnaissance Office Communications Directorate director from 2011 until his passing June 17, 2017, and was honored by having the laboratory named after him.


Grad Inducted to Delaware Aviation Hall of Fame
Donald Sloan '73, along with five other notable First State achievers, will be inducted into the Delaware Aviation Hall of Fame at an Honors Banquet at the University of Delaware's Clayton Hall on Nov. 2.


Two Air Force Veterans Help Each Other Heal and Live an Intentional Life
When someone survives an event that in all likelihood should have been fatal, they are often left traumatized and wondering why they survived. Two United States Air Force veterans ('94 and '99 Academy grads) survived two very different near death experiences, and have helped each other heal. Now they are living an intentional life, and encouraging others to do the same.


Coaching Chapter Closes But Story Continues
When Coach Gary Droze '83 was inducted into the Florida High School Athletic (FHSAA) Hall of Fame, his teams had won 20 cross country and track & field team state championships and were runner-up 16 times.


'80s Ladies Retirement
Nineteen female members from the Class of '80 gathered to celebrate the retirement of the last '80s Ladies active duty member. Tanya Regan '80 was recognized as the last of the ground-breaking USAFA grads to head into retirement.


Cadets, Experts Discuss DoD's Role in Modern Conflict at Academy Assembly
Heads spun at this week's 61st Air Force Academy Assembly, an annual cadet-run conference that pits cadets and subject-matter against complex problems and tough questions. The Academy Assembly has been an annual event at the school since 1959.


Pitch to Develop Tech for Colorblind Pilots Wins 1st Place at Academy Innovation Competition
Bailey Hopkins, a junior cadet at the Air Force Academy, took to the stage Oct. 18 during Falcon Tank, an innovation-themed competition, to present an idea on modifying commercially available technology to correct color blindness in Air Force-issued pilot visors.


Strengthening Alliances: AF Academy Hosts Partner Nation Cadets During International Week
The annual event at the Academy exposes U.S. partner nation cadets from around the world to different cultures and perspectives, and gives the group several opportunities to team up and mingle.

Falcons Run By Utah State for 31-7 Victory
The Air Force football team used a potent rushing attack and a stifling defense to run away with a commanding 31-7 victory over Utah State Saturday evening, Oct. 26, at Falcon Stadium. Air Force (6-2) is now bowl eligible for the first time since 2016.

Air Force Women Jump into Nation's Top-15
Women's Cross Country jumped up seven spots to No. 14 in the latest national rankings — the highest NCAA DI placement by a women's team in Academy history.

Boxing to Host Army West Point
The Air Force boxing team will host its counterparts from Army West Point at 4:30 p.m. MT this afternoon during a special edition of Friday Night Fights on Nov. 1, as the two service academies meet up for a weekend of competition at the Academy. Watch preview.


Rifle Team Goes 3-1 in Home Matches, Cadet Fiori is Falcons' Top Finisher
Finishing 3-1, Air Force started the season in fine fashion. The Air Force rifle team will travel to West Point, N.Y., for the annual President's Trophy Matches against Army, Navy and the Coast Guard on Nov. 2.
