USAFA Grad Earns Airman's Medal for Saving Lives of 3 Swimmers
A 20th Space Control Squadron Airman who graduated from the Air Force Academy in 2015 was honored with an Airman's Medal for his actions Jan. 10. First Lt. Dominic Vicino distinguished himself by risking his life to save three others March 31 at Miramar Beach, Florida.


Graduate Dependent Scholarships
The Board of Directors of the Association of Graduates is pleased to once again offer Graduate Dependent Scholarships. These scholarships are annual awards of $500 and are intended to directly support post-secondary education for the children of AOG graduate members. The application deadline is March 4, 2018.

U.S. Astronaut Hall of Fame to Welcome Dr. Thomas D. Jones, Captain Scott D. Altman
Dr. Thomas Jones '77's contributions to the U.S. space program have gone well beyond his 11 years with NASA, during which he flew on four space shuttle missions to Earth orbit. A graduate of the Air Force Academy and former B-52 bomber pilot, Jones joined NASA in 1990.


McSally Will Run for Senate in Arizona
Rep. Martha McSally '88 announced that she will run for Senate in Arizona, giving Republicans a top-tier recruit in the race to replace retiring Sen. Jeff Flake.


Simmons '13 Excited to Support Olympic Athletes
Two years after competing at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, Cale Simmons '13 is headed to the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang, South Korea. This time, however, Simmons isn't competing. He's supporting U.S. Olympic athletes during their time abroad.

Michigan native Renee Richardson, a 1988 Air Force Academy graduate, and member of the Senior Executive Service was appointed executive director of AFICA after retiring from an active-duty career as a colonel.

On January 13, the Atlanta Falcons lost to the Philadelphia Eagles, which brought an end to the team's Super Bowl dreams. Falcons offensive lineman Ben Garland '10 may not be going to the big game, but he's still sending a Gold Star wife and her 3-year-old son.


Soaring High, Giving Back
The son of an Air Force Pilot, Lt. Col Chris Mulder '01 followed his father into the cockpit and currently serves as a T-6 flight instructor at Sheppard Air Force Base.


Former Air Force Baseball Star Honored with NCAA Silver Anniversary Award
Brig. Gen. Lance Pilch '93 was one of six former college athletes honored with the NCAA Silver Anniversary Award in recognition of their collegiate and professional achievements. The NCAA recognized the honorees at the Honors Celebration during the 2018 NCAA Convention on Jan. 17 in Indianapolis.

National Character and Leadership Symposium
The annual National Character and Leadership Symposium (NCLS) is the United States Air Force Academy's flagship event on character and leadership. It brings together distinguished scholars, military leaders, corporate executives and world-class athletes to motivate and equip participants for honorable living and effective leadership. It will next take place on February 22-23, 2018.

Air Force Wins Against Utah State, 57-50, On Pink Night
Air Force women's basketball defeated Utah State, 57-50, in Mountain West action Wednesday night at Clune Arena. The Falcons captured their first victory of the season, aided by 16 points from Kaelin Immel and 14 by Cortney Porter. Air Force wore pink uniforms as part of its Pink Game in honor of Breast Cancer awareness.


John Reynolds Named Mountain West Athlete of the Week
After posting a conference-leading clearance in the high jump at last week's Air Force Team Challenge, senior John Reynolds was named the Mountain West Men's Indoor Field Athlete of the Week.


Cadet Represents U.S. on International Stage
C2C Alex Mossing already has accomplished plenty on the wrestling mats, but earning the opportunity to represent his country in international competition has been the pinnacle.
