A Time to Heal
"The Vietnam War" is a 10-part, 18-hour series recounting the events that led up to the conflict and the battles and controversies that followed. It premieres on PBS on Sept. 17. Ken Burns and one of his documentary interviewees, Gen. (Ret.) Merrill McPeak, stopped by Arnold Hall on Aug. 24 to preview the film and answer questions from the assembled audience.

Former Football Standout Steve Kelly Shares Inspirational Story
Steve Kelly, a 1985 Air Force Academy graduate and football player, shared his inspirational story recently with LPN sports reporter John Walk. Kelly received a health scare in 2008 when he was diagnosed with chondrosarcoma, and ensuing surgery to remove the cancer resulted in him losing a large percentage of function in his left leg. He was eventually forced to give up his aviation career. However, Kelly soon found another calling on the bike as a para-cyclist.

Air Force Opens Home Schedule with Amy Svoboda Memorial Classic
After spending the first two weeks of the season on the road with recent wins over Army and the Citadel, the Air Force volleyball team opens the home portion of its season this weekend (Sept. 8-9), when it hosts the fourth-annual Amy Svoboda Memorial Classic. The tournament is named after Amy Svoboda, a 1989 Academy graduate and four-year letter winner on the Air Force volleyball team, who was killed during an A-10 training accident in 1997.
