Superintendent Addresses Racial Slurs at USAFA
Academy Superintendent Lt. Gen. Jay Silveria '85 addressed cadets, faculty, staff and cadet candidates in the wake of racial slurs found written on the dormitory message boards of five African-American cadets at the Academy's Preparatory School.

Video of the speech was posted on the Academy's Facebook page and currently has more than 5 million views. It has subsequently been featured in news stories highlighting leadership qualities nationally.

In an effort to stay connected to the graduate community, USAFA Commandant of Cadets Brig. Gen. Kristin Goodwin '93 held the second of her quarterly open forums Monday afternoon (Oct. 2, 2017) in Polaris Hall.

Bent Wing Ben
The Class of '59's deputy commandant, retired Brig. Gen. Benjamin B. Cassiday, recently passed away at the age of 95. Academy grad and 12th USAFA Superintendent, retired Lt. Gen. Brad Hosmer '59, said "Bent Wing Ben" was the iconic fighter pilot during their four years at the Academy and said "he was the source of more leadership and character stories among our class than any other figure."

Retired AF Pilots Welcomed Back on Active Duty
Retired Air Force pilots holding Air Force Specialty Code 11X are encouraged to apply for the Voluntary Retired Return to Active Duty Program in order to fill rated staff positions to help alleviate the existing manning shortages within the Air Force rated pilot community.

Joint Staff Communications Director Visits Academy CyberWorx
Vice Admiral Marshall Lytle III, director of Command, Control, Communications and Computers & Cyber, Chief Information Officer on the Joint Staff, J6/CIO, at the Pentagon, visited the Academy Sept. 18, 2017. He met with Col. Jeffrey Collins, CyberWorx director, to discuss the public-private design center focused on cyber capability that melds AF warfighters, academic, and industry expertise with state-of-the-art technology and innovative thinking to solve tough operational problems.

The transcendent college and NBA coach is headed into Colorado Springs Sports Hall of Fame. Egan was the head coach for Air Force basketball from 1971-84 and has the third most wins in Falcon history.

Air Force Debuts at No. 23 in USTFCCCA Coaches Poll
The Air Force men's cross country team earned its first national ranking of the 2017 campaign, as the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association released its fourth national poll of the regular season. Backed by top-15 individual finishes from senior Andrew Johnston (ninth) and junior Mickey Davey (15th), the Falcons placed third out of 21 teams at Notre Dame's annual meet — bettering three nationally-ranked squads and another four that were receiving votes in the previous week's poll.
