President Nominates Academy Grad to be Next Superintendent
Secretary of Defense Jim Mattis announced May 17, 2017, that President Donald Trump has nominated Maj. Gen. Jay B. Silveria '85 for appointment to the rank of lieutenant general, and for assignment as superintendent of the U.S. Air Force Academy. Silveria's most recent assignment was as deputy commander of U.S. Air Forces Central Command, and deputy commander of the Combined Air Force Air Component, U.S. Central Command, Southwest Asia.

Dr. Heather Wilson '82 is the first Air Force Academy graduate to ever serve as secretary of the Air Force. She is the nation's 24th secretary of the Air Force.

2017 All Academy Challenge
Get ready to Beat Army and Sink Navy during the annual All Academy Challenge May 31-June 6, 2017. All five service academies will compete to see which one will have the highest percentage of graduates participate in this friendly fundraising rivalry. Be on the lookout for emails and social media posts starting next week, and encourage your classmates to join you in providing additional support to the Academy and its cadets.

Formula SAE Competition
A team of 20 cadets worked the entire academic year to design and build a car for Formula SAE Michigan, one of several races in the SAE Collegiate Design Series. Seven firsties enrolled in the senior capstone course comprised the leadership for the Academy team.

Gift Fund Helps Senior Cadets Prep for Health Care Professions
Twenty-two cadets in the Class of 2017 have been accepted to health-care-related schools after graduation. Several of them received financial assistance to pay for their entrance exams, thanks to the Academy's Medical College Gift Fund supported by donors to the USAFA Endowment.

Air Force Repeats as MW Outdoor Champions

Air Force Ultimate Team Wins Regional Championships
Air Force Ultimate Team won the Regional Championships with a 13-7 win over Colorado College, making them two-time regional champions. For the second year in a row, they will be heading to the National Championships. This year, the College Division III National Ultimate Championships will be in Lexington, Kentucky on May 21-22, 2017.
