Cadet Wing Starts 'Recognition' Training
Recognition is the culminating military training event of the freshman cadet year. Successful completion of the event signifies that the freshman class met military training requirements and is prepared to continue on at the Academy.

Moving Phantoms
On March 6, 2017, Medal of Honor recipient USAF Capt. Lance Sijan's F4 Phantom was lowered into its new position atop a pillar in front of General Mitchell International Airport. Commemorative plaques telling the story of Capt. Lance Sijan '65 will adorn the plaza laid out in the shape of the Medal of Honor, visible from the air just off the main runway. The monument will become an educational site for school children.

From Air Force Cadet to Bronco
One of the few Air Force cadets to have competed at the Combine also ended up being drafted by the Broncos. That would be Steve Russ '95, a linebacker selected in the seventh round of the 1995 NFL Draft. Russ is also the only cadet the Broncos have ever drafted.

Cadet Falconers Take Flight
The Academy's falconry team performs for nearly 600,000 spectators a year at sporting events and educational visits nationwide. The first Academy class selected the falcon as its mascot in 1955 and the falconry team began performing at football games in 1956. Twelve cadets make up the team, with four new cadets selected from each incoming class.

The 2017 Air Force football schedule has been released by the Mountain West Conference. The Falcons will play six home and six away games this season.

Adam Sumait Claims Fourth Wing Open Title
Senior Adam Sumait joined a prestigious list of four-time boxing champions, as Air Force convened under the lights of Clune Arena for the 59th installment of the annual Wing Open Championships on Thursday, March 2. Five Falcons successfully defended their individual titles, while another five boxers had their arms raised for the first time.

Falcons Down Wyoming in Opening Round of MW Tournament
There's no telling what was more shocking, an opening-round win in the Mountain West Men's Championship by a No. 10 seed, or the way it happened. Air Force held Wyoming scoreless over the first 9:36 to open a 25-0 lead, and then cruised to an 83-68 victory Wednesday. Air Force fell to Colorado State University in the second round.
