Air Force graduate Ben Garland '10 was named as the Atlanta Falcons' nominee for the NFL's Walter Payton Man of the Year Award on the same day he drew the first start of his NFL career.

Former USAFA Baseball Great Lance Pilch Honored with NCAA Silver Anniversary Award
Six former college athletes will receive the NCAA Silver Anniversary Award in recognition of their collegiate and professional achievements. Now a brigadier general in the U.S. Air Force, Lance Pilch played baseball as a student-athlete at Air Force and graduated in 1993 with a degree in electrical engineering.

Jeff Heidmous Retires as Water Polo Coach
Jeff Heidmous '77, the most successful water polo coach in Air Force Academy history, announced his retirement effective May 31, 2018. Heidmous coached the Falcons for 25 seasons, leading the team to three conference championships, five NCAA appearances and more than 300 wins.

Tucker Bone and Oscar Chacon Earn USCA All-America Status
United Soccer Coaches announced the association's 2017 NCAA Division I Men's All-America Teams. Among the 37 All-Americans are two of Air Force's own in junior midfielder Tucker Bone (1st team) and senior midfielder Oscar Chacon (3rd team). The honors mark the first time in 20 years that Falcons have been recognized as All-Americans.

After posting the nation's second-best clearance in the pole vault at last week's season-opening meet, Air Force junior Kathryn Tomczak was named the Mountain West Women's Indoor Field Athlete of the Week.

Madison Square Garden Holiday Festival
Air Force travels to New York, N.Y., to take on Army West Point Sunday, Dec. 17, at 1:30 p.m. in Madison Square Garden as part of the 65th Annual MSG Holiday Festival. St. Johns and Iona are also playing in the Festival that features two local favorites and two military rivals. If you're going to the game, join us before for a Dine and Dunk event!
