2017 All Academy Challenge
Mark your calendars for the annual All Academy Challenge, set for May 31-June 6, 2017. As an Air Force Academy graduate, you will have the chance to help USAFA beat the Military Academy, Naval Academy, Coast Guard Academy and Merchant Marine Academy in a head-to-head participation competition. Last year, the Challenge raised over $3 million for the participating academies — money used to institute world-class educational programs, provide training facilities and so much more. Be on the lookout for more information in your email box and on social media as the challenge approaches.

Generous GestureYost
David Yost '69 was not only honored as a 2016 Distinguished Graduate by the U.S. Air Force Academy and the Association of Graduates at the USAFA Founders Day Banquet April 7, he also picked up the tab for the wine served at the event. A capacity crowd of about 300 attended the special dinner at the Falcon Club, and Yost stepped up to make the evening even more enjoyable for everyone. The AOG would like to thank Mr. Yost for his generous gesture!

Don't Take Our Word For It - Listen to Career Advice From Your Fellow GraduatesCalendar
On networking with fellow graduates: "It really allows you to practice those interview skills and lets you get out those nervous thoughts or that anxiousness because you're in a room full of people who are in the exact same position as you. We've all been a part of the military for X number of years, and we've kind of been accustomed to this certain way of life. And so you're surrounded by all these people that are in a similar situation, so it kind of puts you at ease. And then once you're actually doing the interviews out in the real world, I guess you can say, it takes a lot of the pressure off." - Rachel Mooney '08.

On getting a job after SACC: "Any USAFA grad must consider going to at least one SACC during their transition preparation. I found the seminars and career fair to be immensely valuable in my search of the next great opportunity. In fact, the connections made at SACC allowed me to secure a fantastic position in a Fortune 50 company. Do yourself a favor, and get yourself to one of these events and take the time before and after to prepare and follow up." - Daniel Johns '08.

Still unsure if you should attend? Watch our Career Coach Q&A video to answer some of the questions you may have!

On talking with corporate recruiters: "You get a lot of really neat perspective on not only what it takes to work in the corporate world, but also what it takes to translate what you've done in the military to what corporate hiring officials are looking for. And a lot of little catch phrases, lingo, vernacular that you need to survive out there. Much like in the military, we've got our own vernacular, and so does the corporate world. So, it was good to hear their perspective, and some of them were very energetic and can motivate you to think about some different perspective that you haven't previously." - Lt. Col. Harold Hicks '93.
